The Integrated Approach to Wellness
The Integrated Approach to Wellness is funded by WorkSafe Victoria’s WorkWell Mental Health Improvement Fund. The approach was developed in conjunction with Grant Fuller of McConnell Dowell and Associate Professor Luke Downey from Swinburne University.
The Integrated Approach to Wellness is a project established to achieve industry-wide cultural change and to address recent research which shows the level of depression, anxiety and stress experienced by Victorian construction workers far exceeds population norms. The project consortium consists of Lysander, Mordialloc Freeway Joint Venture and Swinburne University.
Working with white-collar workers in the construction industry, the project investigates how organisations can address the work-related factors that are impacting mental health and wellbeing. Lysander lead the project worked in partnership with key decision-makers to deliver a framework that will provide a standardised approach for building cultures of wellbeing.

60% improvement in work/life balance satisfaction
46% improvement in depression
34% improvement in stress
41% improvement in burnout

About WorkSafe Victoria’s WorkWell
In partnership with the Victorian Department of Health, WorkSafe is delivering the $50 million five-year WorkWell program, to support employers to prevent mental injury and promote a positive and mentally healthy workplace.
WorkWell aims to make mental health and wellbeing a priority in Victorian workplaces.
WorkWell takes a prevention led approach by supporting business leaders to implement systems and processes that reduce the risk of mental injury and create safe and mentally healthy environments so employees thrive.
The WorkWell program consists of three streams:
WorkWell Toolkit – a free and voluntary online tool. It uses a step by step approach to help business leaders and decision makers promote mental health and prevent mental injury in the workplace with access to tools and resources tailored to business size and industry type.
WorkWell Mental Health Improvement Fund - has provided large scale investment for workplaces to promote positive mental health and prevent mental injury.
WorkWell Learning Networks - bringing workplaces and experts together to share ideas and knowledge and provide advice and support to workplaces to implement initiatives that create safe and mentally healthy environments for identified Victorian working populations
